REPORT: Re-envisioning the Oakland Business Assistance Center - FREE
This 2018 report is a cross-functional analysis of the Oakland Business Assistance Center (BAC) designed help decision-makers identify what short term and long-term support is needed to re-envision the BAC.

Definitions.

  • Entrepreneur: Those with the vision. Includes current business owners, company founders, former business owners.aspiring business owners and not-for-profit leaders, those with side hustles, those with social enterprises, those who are on or who wish to join an entrepreneurial team.
  • Business Support Provider: Those who help with planning and implementation of the vision. Includes individuals and organizations and people who provide mentorship, networks, technical assistance, acceleration, incubation, legal aid, marketing, HR support, co-working spaces, pop-up spaces, governmental services, etc.
  • Financial Support Provider: Those who help by providing funding for the vision. Includes individuals and organizations who provide financial support such as lending, crowdfunding, CDFIs, banks, angel investment, venture capital, contracting opportunities, etc.
  • Bay Area Entrepreneurship Navigator: Those certified by the Alliance for Community Development to help entrepreneurs navigate the Bay Area entrepreneurship ecosystem based on business stage, type of support, diversity emphasis, and other valuable criteria.
